Mark Richardson

How can I help?

Mark has nearly 30 years experience as a Chartered Surveyor, and he has worked around Derby for almost all of that time. As a commercial surveyor he advises clients on a wide range of disposals, particularly in relation to development. As an RICS Registered Valuer, Mark also carries out a variety of property valuations for many commercial banks, pension funds and private clients. He specialises in valuing developments, land and HMOs amongst others. He is also a RICS Accredited Expert and has achieved the Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence. In this capacity he undertakes a wide range of sometimes complex valuation reports for legal purposes such as professional negligence, taxation and divorce.

Experience

Mark has been a business partner since 2005 and enjoys the challenges of day to day business together with tackling the planning and growth of all aspects of BB&J Commercial.

How long has Mark been part of the team?

Mark has been with BB&J Commercial since 1994.

Interests

Mark has a variety of interests, particularly road cycling. Other hobbies include collecting great music on vinyl records.

Chris Birds

How can I help?

Chris is an Equity Partner in Boxall Brown & Jones and BB&J Commercial and has overall responsibility for the day to day running of the company, which includes the residential sales and lettings sections of the business. As a Chartered Valuation Surveyor, he also has many years’ experience in all areas of residential property sales and management.

Experience

Chris has worked within the Derby property market for over 25 years. He has a degree in Estate Surveying and is a Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer. Chris is a member of the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) and a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA); organisations with which he is actively involved in at both local and national level.

Having been the Chairman of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire branch of the NAEA for many years and serving on National committees. He was awarded a distinguished service honour in 2009.

Chris has been voted as one of the top 250 inspiring business people in Derbyshire and he is proud to serve the community as a Presiding Magistrate in the Southern Derbyshire Criminal Courts.  In April 2024, he will become the Deputy Under Sheriff of Derbyshire.

How long has Chris been part of the team?

Chris joined Boxall Brown & Jones in 2001 and became a partner in 2005.

Interests

Chris has climbed to Everest Base Camp, ran the London Marathon and competed in the Great North Run on five occasions.

Graham Bancroft

How can I help?

Graham’s vast experience, knowledge and contacts allow him to provide a comprehensive agency service across all types of commercial properties, whether to individual clients or large PLC property organisations.  In addition, Graham also undertakes commercial property valuations for a variety of purposes including loan security, pension funds and company accounts to name a few.

Graham has a wide range of professional experience and provides Landlord & Tenant advice, namely rent reviews and lease renewals, to numerous client along with rating and compulsory purchase work.

Experience

Born in Derby, Graham began his career in commercial property in 1999 at Derby City Council being a graduate of De Montfort University, before very quickly joining Salloway Property Consultants as a Valuation Surveyor.  Graham quickly established himself within the company resulting in being made Associate Director in 2010 before joining BB&J Commercial in 2013.

How long has Graham been part of the team?

Graham has been with BB&J Commercial since 2013.

Interests

Graham is a lifelong supporter and follower of Derby County.

Cameron Godfrey

How can I help?

Cameron can offer advice on Agency Services relating to acquisition, disposal and lettings. Cameron has good local knowledge of the Midlands property market having previously worked as a Property Manager for the residential team at BB&J.

Experience

Cameron has worked for us for several years, previously in our residential management team before moving over to commercial agency and is working towards Chartered Surveyor status within BB&J Commercial.

How long has Cameron been part of the team?
Cameron joined BB&J in August 2019 and later joined the commercial team in July 2022.

Interests

When Cameron is not in the office, he enjoys spending his time on the badminton court or football pitch, whilst regularly venturing to a beer garden in the evening to relax.

Tom O'Halloran

How can I help?

Tom is a property surveyor undertaking valuation work on commercial and residential property for a variety of purposes including acquisitions, lending and sales.

Experience

Tom has worked in property for several years and has significant experience within the industry in management and valuation. Most recently he has worked for our management team being responsible for a large portfolio of various properties held by professional corporate landlords and private investors.  He is working to become a Chartered Surveyor with BB&J Commercial.

How long has Tom been part of the team?
Tom joined BB&J in July 2022 and later joined the commercial team in January 2024.

Interests

I grew up on a farm!! So when I’m not undertaking valuation work and helping clients you may find me in the countryside tending to the fields.

Rob Jones

How can I help?

Rob was one of the founding partners of Boxall Brown & Jones and BB&J Commercial. He has a wealth of knowledge in commercial and residential property matters. He is an RICS Registered Valuer and advises private clients, banks and businesses on a variety of property issues including residential and commercial surveys, valuations, rent reviews, lease renewals, schedules of dilapidations and condition. Rob continues to work for us as a consultant undertaking Residential Surveys and Homebuyer Reports.

Experience

Rob has a great depth of technical knowledge gained in over 35 years in the property industry. A former director in a Corporate property business, he decided to set up his own practice back in 1989.

How long has Rob been part of the team:

Since setting up the business back in 1989.

Interests

Rob lives locally with his family in Allestree. He enjoys spending his spare time in the Derbyshire countryside, particularly walking in the Peak District.

Carys Hughes

How can I help?

Carys is our Business Administrator/PA providing administration and office management / support to BB&J’s surveyors for commercial property agency and valuation work. Carys liaises directly with clients to ensure that BB&J Commercial are providing them with the best possible service and deals with commercial agency enquires from interested parties.

Experience

Carys has recently finished her Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship with Derby College and City & Guilds Qualifications.

How long has Carys been part of the team:

Carys joined the ever growing team in August 2021.

Interests

Carys is a keen baker and has been known to make a good lemon drizzle cake. She grew up with horses and has been horse riding for a long while now. Carys enjoys spending time out in the countryside, going to the gym and reading a good book.

Claire Taylor

How can I help?

As our Commercial Property Administrator and Sales Negotiator for our sister company Boxall Brown & Jones, Claire provides administration and office support to BB&J’s surveyors for commercial property agency and valuation work, as well as negotiating property sales.

Experience

Claire previously worked in the Building Society Industry for around 15 years, gaining lots of insight into finances and mortgages. She felt it was a natural progression to work in property and believes her knowledge in the finance industry has proven to be invaluable.

How long has Claire been part of the team?

Claire has worked with BB&J since 2004, providing administration as well as negotiating and progressing sales in the residential part of the business.

Interests

Claire is a very sociable person, she loves going out, but equally happy staying in with her husband, kids and dog Maddie. She also loves her Greek holidays but just as happy in Cornwall, when the weather is nice at least.
