BB&J Commercial are delighted to announce the letting of an 8,800sq.ft business unit located at 650 City Gate London Road Derby to specialist tooling design and manufacturer MA Ford as a base for their new European headquarters. The move sees MA Ford move from their former Pride Park address to aide their planned expansion in what is the European company’s 20th anniversary and which coincides with the US parent company’s centenary year, having been established since 1919.
Commenting on the deal, Chris Keogh, Senior Surveyor at BB&J Commercial said “We are pleased to finally complete the letting of 650 City Gate to MA Ford on a new 10 year term. We were able to engage MA Ford’s interest at an early stage and managed to complete the transaction within a couple of days after the former tenants had vacated and therefore mitigated any potential void periods for our client. Both our client and MA Ford were extremely happy to have concluded the transaction without any significant problems.”
David Ward, Director of MA Ford commented on the move “Since it’s incorporation in 1998, M.A. Ford Europe has been established in Derby as the European stock centre for it’s USA parent company MAF mfg inc. From its original home in John Street, we moved to the current offices in Pride park 10 years ago. The company has doubled in turnover over the last 6 years and now, suitably celebrating our 20th year in business we needed a new European stock and technical centre to showcase our high performance cutting tools. 650 City Gate was chosen after just one viewing and this move will enable the company to double yet again in the coming years, whilst enabling us to have machinery to demonstrate our capability which we could never have done in our previous Derby office”.
