Green Lane Counselling & Psychotherapy was originally set up in 2013 with two counsellors with the purpose of providing affordable and accessible counselling services to the local community and beyond. Fast forward five years and the team has grown to over twenty staff.
Due to the rapid expansion over the last five years and also to meet future growth plans for the business it was identified by the owner, Lucy Harris, that new premises would be required to meet their current requirements.
After searching the market Lucy decided that the historic Friar Gate area of Derby was the best fit for their business and Graham Bancroft, Partner at BB&J Commercial, quickly put together a deal for the whole of the second floor of 61 Friar Gate on behalf of his clients.
Graham said “We were aware of the requirement for Green Lane Counselling & Psychotherapy and after speaking to Lucy it was quickly clear that the professional services area of Friar Gate suited her needs. With the accommodation available being fairly cellular it offered the privacy and space needed for the sensitivity of her business and so we were quickly able to agree terms.”
“The letting now means that 61 Friar Gate is completely occupied and the new tenant will add to the other professional services within the building which includes accountants and architects. The Friar Gate location still remains popular with occupiers and the electronically gated car park on site is a real selling point. Whilst 61 Friar Gate is currently full we do still have one remaining office suite within the adjoining building 1 Bridge Street, albeit interest within this is strong at present”.
Lucy Harris commented “We are delighted with the move to 61 Friar Gate which will enable our growth plans for the business and provide us with the opportunity to consider taking on further qualified counsellors as well as student counsellors who require clinical placements. The relocation will also help us to provide help to more people in the local community as well as being able to offer additional services such as training courses and group counselling sessions”.
