BB&J Commercial have successfully negotiated a new lease at 54–56 Bath Street, Ilkeston, on behalf of their retained client, Duro Design and Build Ltd, with the new occupier being The Air Ambulance Service.
The new store, which opened on 29 May 2026, is the first of its kind for The Air Ambulance Service, operating as a dual-branded retail outlet supporting both Your Local Air Ambulance (YLAA) and the National Children’s Air Ambulance (NCAA).
Last year the charity responded to a total of 548 incidents in Derbyshire, delivering advanced care at the scene and getting patients the best possible chance of survival.
The new Ilkeston store will play an important role in supporting these fundraising efforts while strengthening the charity’s presence and community engagement within the town centre.
Cameron Godfrey, Surveyor at BB&J Commercial, commented: “Really pleased to get this one over the line. The property’s prominence on Bath Street, combined with its flexibility and quality of refurbishment, made it a great fit for The Air Ambulance Service. It’s especially rewarding to complete a deal that not only delivers for our client but also supports a charity that provides such critical, lifesaving services.
I’d also like to extend my thanks to Lauren Hewings at Smith Partnership for her assistance throughout the transaction. Lauren played a key role in helping the matter progress efficiently and her pragmatic approach was greatly appreciated in getting the deal over the line.”
Lee Corkill, Retail Area Manager at The Air Ambulance Service, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our new dual-branded charity shop in Ilkeston and are excited to be joining the local community. This store marks an important milestone for The Air Ambulance Service, bringing together support for both Your Local Air Ambulance and the National Children’s Air Ambulance under one roof.
We look forward to welcoming customers into the store to grab a bargain, donate pre-loved items, learn more about volunteering opportunities and support the vital work of our crews. Every visit helps to fund our lifesaving services, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and enables us to continue helping more people when they need us most.”
