What’s on in Derbyshire: Christmas Edition

Are you looking for some festive fun in the Derbyshire area? There are plenty of events for families to attend in the run up to Christmas. As a little Christmas gift from BB&J Commercial, we have listed some of the best picks for you.

Santa’s Grotto at Chesterfield Market Hall

10 December till 24 December

Don’t forget to visit Santa! Chesterfield Market Hall will be hosting their annual Santa’s Grotto so you can let him know what you would like to see under your tree this year.

Booking is essential. Tickets are £6.50 and include a present from Santa. The event will take place upstairs in the Market Hall.

An Audience with Father Christmas at Bolsover Castle

It appears that Santa is making an appearance all over Derbyshire this year. He will also be making a special appearance at Bolsover Castle. Not only will you be able to tell him what you would like for Christmas, but you will be able to hear all about his festive traditions.

Booking is recommended. Tickets are £8.00. Children will receive their own present from Father Christmas. 

Santa Specials at Midland Railway

If Santa hosting two events in the Derbyshire area wasn’t enough, he is hosting his very own train journey at Midland Railway. You are about to be spoilt for choice with all his events!

The Santa Specials train journey will include being able to see Santa on the train, a gift for every child, a miniature bottle of spirit for every adult, a cookie delivered to your seat for all adults and children, a colouring book and pencils for each child, and, finally, a Pinxton Puppet Show in a heated, decorated marquee.

Booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Tickets are priced between £13.95 to £15.95 depending on what type of ticket is purchased.

Christmas Market at Denby Pottery Village

2 December till 4 December

9 December till 11 December

Denby Pottery Village will be hosting their own Christmas Market. The market will be selling handcrafted gifts as well as artisan food and drink.

The market will be free to enter. You can register interest over on the Denby Pottery Village website.

Santa Experience at Denby Pottery Village

26 November till 24 December

Oh, we almost forgot! Santa is also coming to Denby Pottery Village! You will be able to meet Santa, hand-pick your own present from Santa’s Workshop, and join in with festive games in the Denby gardens.

Christmas at Chatsworth House

5 November till 8 January

As usual, Chatsworth House have a whole variety of Christmas events occurring this year.

Chatsworth House itself will be inspired by the Nordics, following the theme of ‘Deep Midwinter: A Nordic Christmas’. Chatsworth Garden, for the first time, will be lit up with Christmas illuminations.

Booking is recommended. Tickets are £29.50 for adults and £18.00 for children. Tickets include entry to the House, Garden, and Farmyard.
